1:5[hb5]我們既多受基督的苦楚、就靠基督多得安慰。
   [lb5]因為基督所受的苦楚怎樣溢流到我們身上來,我們所得的安慰也怎樣藉著基督而溢流出去。

   [asv]For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ.
   [kjv]For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
   [bbe]For as we undergo more of the pain which Christ underwent, so through Christ does our comfort become greater.
1:6[hb5]我們受患難呢、是為叫你們得安慰得拯救.我們得安慰呢、也是為叫你們得安慰.這安慰能叫你們忍受我們所受的那樣苦楚。
   [lb5]我們或是受苦難,那是為要使你們受安慰得拯救﹔或是受安慰呢、那也是為要使你們受安慰﹔這安慰運用動力于堅忍,使你們能忍受我們所受同樣的苦。
   [nb5]如果我們遭遇患難,那是要使你們得著安慰,得著拯救;如果我們得到安慰,也是要使你們得到安慰。這安慰使你們能夠忍受我們所受那樣的痛苦。
   [asv]But whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or whether we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer:
   [kjv]And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
   [bbe]But if we are troubled, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which takes effect through your quiet undergoing of the same troubles which we undergo:
1:7[hb5]我們為你們所存的盼望是確定的.因為知道你們既是同受苦楚、也必同得安慰。
   [lb5]我們為你們而存的盼望是確定的(對此段語句彼此間之關系、諸古卷排列法各有出入),因為知道你們既有分于受苦,也照樣必有分于受安慰。
   [nb5]我們對你們的盼望是堅定的,因為知道你們既然一同受痛苦,也必照樣同得安慰。
   [asv]and our hope for you is stedfast; knowing that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also are ye of the comfort.
   [kjv]And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
   [bbe]And our hope for you is certain; in the knowledge that as you take part in the troubles, so you will take part in the comfort.
1:8[hb5]弟兄們、我們不要你們不曉得、我們從前在亞西亞遭遇苦難、被壓太重、力不能勝、甚至連活命的指望都絕了.
   [lb5]兄弟們,我們不愿意你們不明白我們從前在亞西亞所受的苦難,就是︰極受重壓,出于力所能勝之外,甚至到了絕望,連活著的希望都沒有﹔
   [nb5]弟兄們,我們在亞西亞遭受的患難,我們很想讓你們知道。那時我們受到了過於我們所能忍受的壓力,甚至活下去的希望都沒有了,
   [asv]For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell [us] in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
   [kjv]For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
   [bbe]For it is our desire that you may not be without knowledge of our trouble which came on us in Asia, that the weight of it was very great, more than our power, so that it seemed that we had no hope even of life:
1:9[hb5]自己心堣]斷定是必死的、叫我們不靠自己、只靠叫死人復活的 神.
   [lb5]自己心里也已斷定必死。這是要使我們不倚靠自己,乃倚靠那叫死人活起來的上帝。
   [nb5]而且斷定自己是必死的了;然而,這正是要我們不倚靠自己,只倚靠那叫死人復活的 神。
   [asv]yea, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raiseth the dead:
   [kjv]But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
   [bbe]Yes, we ourselves have had the answer of death in ourselves, so that our hope might not be in ourselves, but in God who is able to give life to the dead:
1:10[hb5]他曾救我們脫離那極大的死亡、現在仍要救我們、並且我們指望他將來還要救我們。
   [lb5]他已經緩救我們脫離這么大的死亡,將來還要援救(有古卷作︰他還在援救)﹔我們一向所寄望的他、將來還要援救。
   [nb5]他救我們脫離了那極大的死亡,而且他還要救我們,我們希望他將來仍要救我們。
   [asv]who delivered us out of so great a death, and will deliver: on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;
   [kjv]Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
   [bbe]Who gave us salvation from so great a death: on whom we have put our hope that he will still go on to give us salvation;
1:11[hb5]你們以祈禱幫助我們、好叫許多人為我們謝恩、就是為我們因許多人所得的恩。
   [lb5]你們也該為我們的緣故用祈禱相支持,這樣,既有這么多人、為我們之得救而禱告,就必有這么多人為了上帝向我們所施的慈恩、而為我們感謝上帝。(以上兩節意難確定)
   [nb5]請你們一同用禱告支持我們,好使許多人為著我們所蒙的恩獻上感謝。這恩是藉著許多人的代求而得到的。
   [asv]ye also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed upon us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf.
   [kjv]Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.
   [bbe]You at the same time helping together by your prayer for us; so that for what has been given to us through a number of persons, praise may go up to God for us from all of them.
1:12[hb5]我們所誇的、是自己的良心、見證我們憑著 神的聖潔和誠實、在世為人、不靠人的聰明、乃靠 神的恩惠、向你們更是這樣。
   [lb5]我們所夸耀的是這一點︰我們良知的明証指出我們在世界上之起居為人、是怎樣本著上帝所賜的聖善(有古卷作︰純誠)和純潔,不是本著屬肉體的智慧,乃是本著上帝的恩﹔對于你們、更是如此。
   [nb5]我們引以為榮的,就是我們處世為人,是本著 神的聖潔和真誠,不是靠著人的聰明,而是靠著 神的恩典,對你們更是這樣,這是我們的良心可以作證的。
   [asv]For our glorifying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
   [kjv]For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
   [bbe]For our glory is in this, in the knowledge which we have that our way of life in the world, and most of all in relation to you, has been holy and true in the eyes of God; not in the wisdom of the flesh, but in the grace of God.
1:13[hb5]我們現在寫給你們的話、並不外乎你們所念的、所認識的、我也盼望你們到底還是要認識.
   [lb5]我們寫給你們的、無非是你們所誦讀所明白的。
   [nb5]我們現在寫給你們的,不外是你們可以宣讀、可以明白的。
   [asv]For we write no other things unto you, than what ye read or even acknowledge, and I hope ye will acknowledge unto the end:
   [kjv]For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;
   [bbe]For in our letters we say no other things to you, but those which you are reading, and to which you give agreement, and, it is my hope, will go on doing so to the end:
1:14[hb5]正如你們已經有幾分認識我們.以我們誇口、好像我們在我們主耶穌的日子、以你們誇口一樣。
   [lb5]你們對我們雖只有几分的明白,我還盼望你們會澈底明白,明白在我們主耶穌的日子、我們是你們所夸耀的,正如你們是我們所夸耀的一樣。
   [nb5]正如你們對我們已經有些認識,我盼望你們可以徹底明白:在我們的主耶穌的日子,我們是你們的光榮,你們也是我們的光榮。
   [asv]as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.
   [kjv]As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.
   [bbe]Even as you have been ready, in part, to say that we are your glory, in the same way that you are ours, in the day of the Lord Jesus.
1:15[hb5]我既然這樣深信、就早有意到你們那堨h、叫你們再得益處.
   [lb5]既有了這樣的深信,我早就有意思要先到(或譯︰我原就有意思要到)你們那里去、讓你們重得恩惠﹔
   [nb5]我既然有這樣的信念,就打算先到你們那裡,使你們再一次得到恩惠,
   [asv]And in this confidence I was minded to come first unto you, that ye might have a second benefit;
   [kjv]And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;
   [bbe]And being certain of this, it was my purpose to come to you before, so that you might have a second grace;
1:16[hb5]也要從你們那婺g過、往馬其頓去、再從馬其頓回到你們那堙B叫你們給我送行往猶太去。
   [lb5]就是、我要從你們那里經過、上馬其頓﹔再從馬其頓回到你們那里,然后蒙你們送行、往猶太去。
   [nb5]然後經過你們那裡,往馬其頓去,再從馬其頓回到你們中間,讓你們給我送行往猶太去。
   [asv]and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come unto you, and of you to be set forward on my journey unto Judaea.
   [kjv]And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.
   [bbe]And by way of Corinth to go into Macedonia, and from there to come back again to you, so that you might send me on my way to Judaea.
1:17[hb5]我有此意、豈是反復不定麼.我所起的意、豈是從情慾起的、叫我忽是忽非麼。
   [lb5]那么我既有了這個意思,難道還有輕浮的態度么?還是我所定的意是按著肉體而定意,以致在我也有忽是忽非么?
   [nb5]我這樣決定,難道是反覆不定嗎?我所決定的,難道是體貼肉體而定,使我忽是忽非嗎?
   [asv]When I therefore was thus minded, did I show fickleness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the yea yea and the nay nay?
   [kjv]When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay?
   [bbe]If then I had such a purpose, did I seem to be changing suddenly? or am I guided in my purposes by the flesh, saying, Yes, today, and, No, tomorrow?
1:18[hb5]我指著信實的 神說、我們向你們所傳的道、並沒有是而又非的。
   [lb5]我指著可信可靠的上帝來說︰我們對你們說的話并沒有是而又非的。
   [nb5] 神是信實的,我們向你們所傳的道並不是“是”而又“非”的,
   [asv]But as God is faithful, our word toward you is not yea and nay.
   [kjv]But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay.
   [bbe]As God is true, our word to you is not Yes and No.
1:19[hb5]因為我和西拉、並提摩太、在你們中間所傳 神的兒子耶穌基督、總沒有是而又非的、在他只有一是。
   [lb5]上帝的兒子耶穌基督,那在你們中間藉著我們、藉著我跟西拉(希臘文作︰西勒瓦)和提摩太、而被宣傳的、并沒有是而又非的︰在基督(希臘文作︰他)只有一個『是』。
   [nb5]因為我、西拉和提摩太,在你們中間所宣揚的耶穌基督, 神的兒子,並不是“是”而又“非”的,在他總是“是”的。
   [asv]For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, [even] by me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not yea and nay, but in him is yea.
   [kjv]For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
   [bbe]For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we were preaching among you, even I and Silvanus and Timothy, was not Yes and No, but in him is Yes.
1:20[hb5] 神的應許、不論有多少、在基督都是是的.所以藉著他也都是實在的、〔實在原文作阿們〕叫 神因我們得榮耀。
   [lb5]上帝的應許、無論多么多,在基督(希臘文作︰他)都是『是』的﹔所以我們說『阿門』(即︰『誠心所愿』的意思)時也藉著基督,使榮耀藉著我們而歸于上帝。
   [nb5]因為 神的一切應許,在基督裡都是“是”的,為此我們藉著他說“阿們”,使榮耀歸於 神。
   [asv]For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us.
   [kjv]For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
   [bbe]For he is the Yes to all the undertakings of God: and by him all the words of God are made certain and put into effect, to the glory of God through us.
1:21[hb5]那在基督堸磼T我們和你們、並且膏我們的、就是 神.
   [lb5]那使我們同你們堅固于基督里、并膏派了我們的、乃是上帝﹔
   [nb5]那在基督裡堅定我們和你們,又膏抹我們的,就是 神。
   [asv]Now he that establisheth us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God;
   [kjv]Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
   [bbe]Now he who makes our faith strong together with you, in Christ, and has given us of his grace, is God;
1:22[hb5]他又用印印了我們、並賜聖靈在我們心塈@憑據。〔原文作質〕
   [lb5]是他蓋印了我們,并先賜聖靈做質定在我們心里。
   [nb5]他在我們身上蓋了印,就是賜聖靈在我們心裡作憑據。
   [asv]who also sealed us, and gave [us] the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
   [kjv]Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
   [bbe]And it is he who has put his stamp on us, even the Spirit, as the sign in our hearts of the coming glory.
1:23[hb5]我呼籲 神給我的心作見證、我沒有往哥林多去是為要寬容你們。
   [lb5]我指著我的性命呼求上帝作証,我沒有再往哥林多去、是顧惜你們。
   [nb5]我呼求 神給我作證,我沒有再到哥林多來,是要寬容你們。
   [asv]But I call God for a witness upon my soul, that to spare you I forbare to come unto Corinth.
   [kjv]Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.
   [bbe]But God is my witness that it was in pity for you that I did not come to Corinth at that time.
1:24[hb5]我們並不是轄管你們的信心、乃是幫助你們的快樂.因為你們憑信才站立得住。
   [lb5]這不是說我們做主來轄管你們的信仰,乃是說我們為了你們的喜樂而合作同工﹔因為你們在信仰上已經站穩了。
   [nb5]我們並不是要轄制你們的信仰,而是要作你們的同工,使你們喜樂,因為你們在信仰上已經站穩了。
   [asv]Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for in faith ye stand fast.
   [kjv]Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
   [bbe]Not that we have authority over your faith, but we are helpers of your joy: for it is faith which is your support.
